Experience does not change through control - but through our relationsship with experience

What if life isn't happening to us... but through the way we relate to it?

For many years, I believed I needed to fix myself. As a teenager and young adult, I struggled with an eating disorder for eight years. I spent so much energy trying to change how I felt, believing that if I could just become different, I would finally be free.
Looking back, I see something else.
I see that healing didn't begin when I found the perfect strategy.
It began when I slowly stopped relating to myself as a problem to solve.

In this Heartist Transmission, I share part of my own story and explore a simple but life-changing shift: We don't necessarily change our lives by changing ourselves. We change our lives by changing the way we relate to ourselves, our thoughts, our emotions—and to life itself.
I hope this conversation offers you a little more space, a little more gentleness, and perhaps a new way of seeing your own experience.

With love,
Kat

~Reflection

This is an invitation to take a moment and contemplate about the following:

Where in my life am I still relating to myself as a project that needs to be worked on?
What happens if I meet myself with curiosity instead of resistance?

What part of myself have I been trying to control, change or overcome?

~ Put into practice

For the next week, notice moments where you feel that resistance towards yourself or your experience.
See if you can become curious about the innocent story that causes you to feel this resistance.
Just explore without forcing an outcome…

I love you,
Kat

We don’t get out of flow because life changes. We get out of flow when we stop trusting life.
